The objective of this study is to investitage situation of organizational culture and analyses aspects forming organizational culture at the public library. Paper consists of two parts: first part - overview of organizational culture and factors that make an impact on organizational culture (theoretical part of the paper) and second part - analysis of aspects forming organizational culture at Alytus County Public Libraries.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the aspects forming organizational culture at Alytus County Public Libraries: Alytus City Public Library, Alytus District Municipal Public Library, Lazdijai District Library and Varena Distict Library.

The task of the paper is to get familiar with the concepts describing organizational culture, to prepare the analysis of the aspects relating to organizational culture and to identify the culture of the public library.

Theoretical part presents the conception of the main ideas describing organizational culture, covers the characteristics and functions of organizational culture as well as values of the organization. This part of the paper helps us to understand types and levels of the organizational culture following by the analysis of the main factors helping to form other subcultures. Furthermore, paper discusses factors that help to form organizational culture including the history of organization and environment, communication within the organization, its values and means of management.

The research part analyses aspects of the organization chosen for this paper based on the information used for the research. The research part analyses has been conducted based on questionnaire. This part reflects demographics facts of the participants as well as analyses and evaluates factors that form organizational culture along with a general look at the culture and understanding of changed values within the organization. Results of the investigation indicatives that these libraries includes organic organisation and group leadership and on J. Mole basis this organisation belongs to “outlaws” organisational culture type.
